Singapore: Odia Society of Singapore celebrated the Utkal Divas on 15th April 2017 at The Grassroots Club , Singapore. Guest of honours were His Excellency Mr. Jawed Ashraf , High Commissioner of India to Singapore and Mr. K Ramamoorthy, Chairman of Narpani Pearavia Indian Activies Council.
Close to 300 Odia community members attended the cultural event.
The key event highlights were Odissi Dance by Mrs. Indu Kannan, Bande Utkal Janani by girls, Comedy Drama by boys and Folk Dances medly by ladies.
His Excellency Mr. Ashraf and Mr. Ramamoorthy addressed the crowd and spoke about the strong links between Odisha and Singapore.
Mr. Deepan Garnaik was awarded with the annual ‘Singodia Ratna’ 2017 for his contribution to the society and being a Singapore Odia role model.
The event concluded with a dinner and open house dance session.
