Union Ministers Smriti Irani, Dharmendra Pradhan attacked the BJD Government over development during campaign

Bargarh: Union Ministers Smriti Irani and Dharmendra Pradhan attacked the BJD Government, particularly Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, for the alleged misrule in the State during their election campaign at different places of Bijepur on Tuesday.

Irani wanted voters to seek for a report card of Naveen Patnaik’s 18 years of governance. “The State has gone backward,” she said, adding that development of Odisha would be possible only if the BJP comes to power.

She tried to play the BJP model of development card to attract voters for the party candidate Ashok Panigrahi. “Though Naveen Patnaik has ruled for continuous 18 years, people of the State are deprived of safe drinking water. There is no electricity in many villages of the State. Hence, it is high time to show Naveen Patnaik the door and bring the BJP in place,” Irani said.

She further said that 18 years’ time was sufficient enough for changing the fate of a State. “But Naveen due to poor leadership has grossly failed to do so in spite of getting all benefits from the Centre,” she added.

She also tried to influence women by highlighting the Ujjala Yojana of the Centre and indirectly giving the entire credit to Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas.
