Baripada: Mayurbhanj Goatary Development Project was launched at Sankerko Village,Badasahi Block Mayurbhanj by Honourable Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan . Dr Priyabrata Majhi Project Coordinator Mayurbhanj Goatary Development cooperative society presided over the event.
The Goatary Development Project is a pilot livelihood project for 3400 goat farmers of Khunta Block. This Project is sponsored by ONGC and being supported by Mindtree and industry foundation Bangalore. The society has trained 30 vaccinators who are working closely with the animal health department of the Khunta block and are vaccinating goats.
The various registered shg are also being awared about goat farming and the importance of goat management and fodder cultivation.They are also awared about the importance of vaccination and maintaining good health of Goats.
The project will be extended to other block of Mayurbhanj in near future. The cooperative society will also provide market linkage to poor farmers of Mayurbhanj.
