Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan asked Odisha govt to be mindful about consulting Shankaracharya, Puri King for beautification of Puri , Jagannath Temple

Puri: Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said beautification of Puri and the Jagannath Temple should be made under advice of the Jagatguru and the Government people in charge of it must be careful about that. For the first time, after assuming the Oil Ministry in NDA-2 period, Pradhan went to the Gobardhan peeth to take his blessings.

“Developments are necessary but the administrative steps undertaken around the shrine of Lord Jagannath to make way for modern arrangements should be in line with ancient heritage and culture. So those in charge should be more sensible while taking any decision in the matter,” Pradhan said after meeting Shankaracharya Nischalananda Saraswati.

BJP national spokesperson Dr Sambit Patra was also present in the mutt. Both BJP leaders were in Puri to attend a meeting on the occasion of Teachers’ Day where Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal was chief guest. Pradhan talked with Saraswati on various issues, including demolition of unsafe religious structures near the Jagannath Temple.

Pradhan said beatification of Puri and the Jagannath Temple should be made under advice of the Jagatguru and the Government people in charge of it must be careful about that.

Saraswati also told that there is a concerted effort since many years to undermine the mutt and neglect him. The top seer of Hindus was reacting over demolition of unsafe mutts around the Jagannath Temple during visit of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to the Gobardhan Peetha on Thursday evening.
