Tata Steel organises artificial limb screening and distribution camp at Joda

Joda: Tata Steel in association with Lion’s Club, Ranchi organised a two-day artificial limb screening and distribution camp at Joda of Keonjhar district on October 25-26, 2018. Tata Steel Rural Development Society (TSRDS), the CSR wing of Tata Steel organised the programme as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility.
On this occasion, Mr Anil Oraon, Head (Administration) Ore Mines & Quarries Division (OMQ), Tata Steel, Mr Narayan Sharma, Head (Dry and Logistics), Joda East Iron Mine, Tata Steel, Dr A K Roy, Chief Medical Officer, Tata Steel, Joda, Mr NNB Rao, Senior Manager (Administration), Tata Steel, Mr Rajnish Kumar, Senior Manager (Administration), Tata Steel, Noamundi, Mr Tanmay Kar, Unit Head, TSRDS, Joda, Mr Lalit Kedia, President, Lion’s Club Ranchi and other members of Lion’s Club were present as dignitaries.
An expert team led by Dr H K Sahu from Lion’s Club conducted the screening and fixing of artificial limbs to the beneficiaries. In a screening camp held in the previous month at Joda, a total of 79 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) were identified. Out of 79, artificial limbs were distributed to 43 PWDs in this two-day camp and the remaining will get the artificial limbs in the next camp. Also, additional 35 PWDs were screened in this camp and found to be eligible for getting the artificial limbs, which will be given in the next camp.
Expressing happiness, Bideshi Patra, aged 58, a resident of Shaheed Nagar, Joda said, “Today I got a new life after getting the artificial limb and I can walk like any other person. I am extremely happy that Tata Steel and Lion’s Club provided me the much-needed sheen of my life, which I had lost in my early childhood.”
PWDs from Joda, Bamebari, Khondbond and Birkala were benefitted from the camp. All sections of the society at Joda appreciated the efforts of Tata Steel and Lion’s Club for organising this camp at Joda.
