Kalinganagar: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, believes in serving the society and contributing towards the growth and progressive development of local communities, thereby making a significant impact in the lives of many. In line with this business philosophy, Industrial Energy (IEL), Kalinganagar Plant, Orissa, as part of its Employee Volunteering Initiative, organised awareness rallies on various social issues in and around the vicinity of Kalinganagar. The initiative benefitted more than 5,000 people in Kalinganagar.
A three-day programme was designed to spread awareness about various social issues among the communities and students. Day one of the programme included awareness rally on Swachh Bharat along with an inter-school debate competition on cleanliness organised at Manpur High School. Around 40 students from both senior and junior divisions participated in the competition. A mega awareness programme was organised at Uchabali Panchayat High School on girl child education as part of the second-day programme. More than 300 students along with IEL employees joined the awareness rally and also performed a street play on the issue. Day three of the initiative included a road safety awareness programme at Daulakana Panchayat High School. The road safety awareness programme started from DGP High School and covered a national highway (Tomka Chhak). Around 300 students, teachers and Tata Power employees joined the road safety awareness rally.
