Tata Power’s Industrial Energy organises employee volunteering initiative in Kalinganagar, Odisha

Kalinganagar: Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, believes in serving the society and contributing towards the growth and progressive development of local communities, thereby making a significant impact in the lives of many. In line with this business philosophy, Industrial Energy (IEL), Kalinganagar Plant, Orissa, as part of its Employee Volunteering Initiative, organised awareness rallies on various social issues in and around the vicinity of Kalinganagar. The initiative benefitted more than 5,000 people in Kalinganagar.

A three-day programme was designed to spread awareness about various social issues among the communities and students. Day one of the programme included awareness rally on Swachh Bharat along with an inter-school debate competition on cleanliness organised at Manpur High School. Around 40 students from both senior and junior divisions participated in the competition. A mega awareness programme was organised at Uchabali Panchayat High School on girl child education as part of the second-day programme. More than 300 students along with IEL employees joined the awareness rally and also performed a street play on the issue. Day three of the initiative included a road safety awareness programme at Daulakana Panchayat High School. The road safety awareness programme started from DGP High School and covered a national highway (Tomka Chhak). Around 300 students, teachers and Tata Power employees joined the road safety awareness rally.

Commenting on the initiatives, Vijayant Ranjan, CEO, IEL, and chief Kalinganagar Station said, “We, at Industrial Energy Limited, have always been committed to the well-being of our communities. While the objective of the initiative was to spread knowledge about the social issues in the communities, this programme also helped students to increase their confidence level and hone their communication skills. Our employees have always been at the forefront in undertaking these initiatives and make a difference to the lives of people. We would like to thank the schools, teachers and our employees for extending support and making this programme a success. In line with our commitment, we will continue to organise initiatives for the betterment of the society.”

The programme was graced by the presence of Mr Ranjan, CEO, IEL, and chief Kalinganagar Station, Dillip Kumar Sahoo, Rashmi Pattnayak, AK Manna, Sanjaya Ku Sahoo, Jitendra Jena, Akshya Satapathy, Bhaskar Patra, Sasmita Pani, Pinaki Sur, Amit Tiwary, Jyotirmaya Jha, Kishore Amreni, S Sasmita, MR Nandi, Asish Srivastav, Biplab Pattnayak, Tapan Ku Panda, Prasenjit Ray, GC Mohanty, Vinod Dora, Pratap Nath and Abhaya Kumar Maharaja (programme manager CAAD).
