SwineFlu death toll in Odisha climbs to 26 ; dengue death toll mounted to four

Bhubaneswar: swineflu toll reaches 26 with two more deaths; number of patients rises to 290 as nine more test positive today.
On the other hand death toll due to dengue in the State in the current year mounted to four. SCB Hospital sources said one Sanatan Nayak (32) of Keonjhar district, admitted here for fever on August 7and shifted to ICU on August 12 after testing positive to dengue, died early on Saturday morning.

Three of the 44 dengue patients, currently undergoing treatment in the hospital here, are stated to be critical. They are now under intensive critical care unit (ICU) and their conditions are regularly monitored.

Sources said at least 427 patients have tested positive to dengue test in the hospital so far in this year and a majority of them are from the neighbouring districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur Keonjhar and Cuttack.

In Brahmapur, one Ch Pravati Reddy (21) of Jhatipadar under Gajam district’s Jhatipadar village had been admitted in the MKCG Hospital on August 18. As her condition worsened, she was shifted to the ICU on August 24 and had been seven units of blood since then. She died on Friday morning.
