Street play to educate students on e-waste at BJB COLLEGE

Nasscom foundation, CEAMA , Digital India , MAIT and centre for child and women development(CCWD) in collaboration with The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, Electronics and Tele Communication and Bio-Informatics of BJB Autonomous College at the dotted venue of college campus a street play was organised here today to create awareness among the students and teachers on e- waste management under the Digital India initiative. The street plays are being performed in regional language to ensure the message of waste segregation reaches everyone. Inaugurating the street play principal Prof Md. Nawaz Hassan said “The idea of organizing a street play was to create awareness among the students and to reach the message to a maximum number of students.” Vice Principal Dr Rita Pati said “The street play was very attractive and being in regional language catches wider attention.” Proper scientific disposal of E-waste is highly essential for environment added sadasiv Swain Secretary of CCWD. Priya a theatre artist, said the base of the play is on traditional folk dance. Each play lasts around 30 minutes, and is performed by 10 people. “We speak both in Odiya and Hindi to ensure everyone understands our message.” she added. Among others who present on the occasion were Dr. Joshamani Dei, Dr.Rajlaxmi Mishra, Dr.Sandhya Pattnaik, Dr.Nalin Patra, Mr.Pradeep Dash,Mrs Manisha Sahoo, Mrs Rajlaxmi Das,Mr.Shrimya Paricha, Mrs Bhaktimayi Panda and Deba Pradhan. Later principal Prof Hasan awarded 10 students for answering the questions related to e-waste.
