Sri Sri University students led a social Awareness Campaign to quit social evils on 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement

Cuttack: Sri Sri University which hosts 1200 students from 28 states of India and 5 countries of the world stood against the social evils today to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of the historic Quit India Movement.

Led by the students of Good Governance and Public Policy, 150 students from all streams of studies viz., BA Yoga, BBA, B.Com, MBA, B.Sc (Agriculture), BE (Architecture) etc have joined hands to fight against the disparity observed in the society. The rally started from Ram Mandir with the singing of National Anthem and concluded in Lower PMG, Bhubaneswar with a skit depicting social evils enacted by the students of Good Governance of the varsity.

This social awareness campaign aims to take attention of citizens toward the farmer’s suicide, female foeticide (Beti Bachao), child labour, unemployment, school drop outs etc. The students believed that, all have a role to play in Nation building. If all citizens become conscious about theevils happening in the society, then the intensity of the problems will gradually decrease.

The students and few faculty members also paid tribute to the freedom fighters. India’s Political independence is a result of many sacrifices and lets be inspired by our martyrs who lived and died for the nation, said Baishali Kundu one of the student organizer.

Jatin Gulati and Yogesh Panda, Good Governance student feel that, such an occasion can relive the spirit of nationalism, brotherhood, team work and people feel more united to work for a social cause. Learn, Lead and Serve is the motto of Sri Sri University and the students contribute in many service projects. The students intend to take up many initiatives for citizen friendly administration and socio-economic empowerment of rural poor.
