Report by Nishapati Nayak; Sunabeda: Society for failure analysis (SFA),koraput has organised a national seminar in “failure analysis and advances in welding technology for aero-engine at training and development institute auditorium hall of Hindustan aeronautics limited(HAL),koraput division.
Today 15th September 2017 incidentally engineer’s day of our country.Around 100 deligates from IIT,S,NIIT,S,DRDO,CSIR,MEDHANI,BHEL,IAFand HAL are participating in this seminar.This seminar comprises of two sessions covering seven lecturers from experts of our country.This seminar will help the aero engine manufacturers to improve productivity and refurbishing of old components of our existing fleet.This will also provide a platform to academician and researchers to continue the research in advanced technology used for manufacturing aero-engine components.
The said programme was witnessedby srik.jaypal,CE, airworthiness,CEMILAC,sri.D.k. mohanty,ed,Nalco,sri.Debasis Deb,ED,HAL,capt.sriv.anil kumar,c.o,afle,koraput,sri.s.k.jha,scientist-f,sect.SFA,(india),dr.benudharsahu,regional director,rcma,koraput,sect.SFA,local chapter.
Among this important guests sri. J.m.sahu,gm,sukhoi-30,HAL,sri.austoshmallick,gm,enginedivisions,sri.s.n.mohanty,vice-cancellor,central university of Orissa, employees and officials of hal.
After inaguration , photo session and high tea near about 10am lecture on “challenges in aerospace welding” by Sri.shishir Kumar Patel, Additional GM,Mfg,HAL,SED, koraput division, lecture-ll on “Laser based joining technology for aerospace applications” by Dr.G.padmanaban, Director,ARCI, Hyderabad, lecture-lll on “Role of NDT in failure analysis” by Dr.Narayan Parida,Dean R&D,c.v.raman college of engineering, Bhubaneswar, lecture-lV on “welding of magnesium alloys” by Dr.G.D.janaki ram, associate professor, Dept.of metallurgical and materials engineering,IIT, Madras, lecture-V on “Failure analysis of aero-engine components leading to incidents/accidents” by Dr.sujata, senior principal scientist, materials science division, National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore, lecture-Vl on “Accurate determination of residual stresses in welding components through the thickness and life estimation” by Dr.M.M.Mahapatro, school of mechanical sciences,IIT, Bhubaneswar, lecture-Vll on “stress corrosion cracking identification and remedial measures for aircraft structural components” by Mr.A.K.Bakare, scientist-G, regional director, TO RCMA,(nasik), CEMILAC,DRDO were delivered and ended with panel discussion.
