Second Edition of Nrutyadham Classical Dance Festival begins

Bhubaneswar: The second edition of the two-day Nrutyadham Classical Dance Festival 2017-18 began here on Saturday.
The festival began with Odissi performance by famous danseuses Subhashree Pattnaik. The magic of danseuses’ steps with recital of the Odissi song cast a spell on the audience.
Subhashree began with Mangalacharan. After paying rich floral tribute to Lord Jagannath in Mangalacharan, she presented ‘Srimati-Sripati’ depicting the eternal love of Radha and Krishna.
The artiste’s facial expression depicting myriad moods of the characters of ‘Srimati-Sripati’ captivated the audience.
After Subhashree, Rama Koundinya of Srikakula presented Kuchipudi. Similarly, Abhisikta Maitra of Kolkata presented Kathakali; Rajib Gosh of Kolkata presented Kathak and Atanu Das of Kolkata presented Bharatnatyam.
Tarit Sarkar of Jamshedpur and Abhinjit Kundu presented Kathak and Bharatnatyam, respectively.
The performances by all the classical dancers grabbed the attention of the packed audience.
Noted Odissi exponent Dipti Mishra of Doordarshan got felicitated with Nrutyadham award.
The festival was inaugurated by Bijaya Kumar Nayak, director, department of culture, Government of Odisha.
Padma Vibhusan Raghunath Mohapatra, Guru Ramahari Das, Guru Durga Charan Ranbir , Jagannath Kunr, Chairman of PG Council, Utkal University, graced the occasion as guests.
