Rupali Haat Saheed Nagar to get new roof under CSR initiative

Bhubaneswar: Good news for the traders of Rupali Haat Byabasaika Sangha, Saheed Nagar. The damaged roof of all 220 `pindis’ or platforms of the traders will now get a smart and modern look, thanks to the CSR initiative of Hindalco and the efforts of city-based social service organisation Jai Odisha under the guidance of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
The aluminium major will provide the asbestos roofing for the entire market and provide the structure like the railing and roofing support so that the platforms will have a new look as the entire `haat’ was destroyed by the severe cyclonic storm Fani, which hit the city on May 3.
President Jai Odisha Rudra Samantray said “we approached the company to help the traders on May 7 and they immediately agreed to do the needful. From BMC Additional Commissioner Surath Mallick and from Hindalco Ardhendu Mohapatra are coordinating for the project.’’
Jai Odisha also organised a stakeholders meeting with all traders of Rupali Haat Byabasaika Sangha Saheed Nagar, local community leaders of Sahid Nagar, officials from BMC and the things were finalised.
Sources said the fabrication work for the roofing will start day after tomorrow and the contractor assigned to the work will complete it in seven to 10 days’ time. Rupali Haat Byabasaika Sangha, Saheed Nagar is one of biggest daily markets of the city under the largest civic body of the State.
