Rights Panel Orders inquiry into torture of minor boy in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Human Rights Commission has sought a report from Odisha Police over severely torture to a minor boy in presence of police in Udala of Mayurbhanj District in Odisha.

Acting on the petition filled by the rights activist Akhand, the Commission has directed the Superintendent of Police of Mayurbhanj to enquire into the matter and submit report to the Commission within four weeks

It is noted that One Minor boy was thrashed mercilessly in Udala of Mayurbjanj District on 2 May 2017. The incident took place near High School Chaka. The boy was caught while allegedly stealing money.

The Police reached the spot late and the boy was even manhandled in presence of police. Police has failed to rescue the boy and people dragged the minor boy in the road and tortured. The boy even fainted in the road.

This was broadcasted in an Electronic Media on 2nd May. The video is publicly available in YouTube.

This Video shows how people paraded the boy in the town and thrashing them mercilessly.

“This inhuman act of some people is a not only a shame for civilized nation and but is a serious offence. The accused people should be prosecuted. But Police has not taken any action against the people who took the law into their hands, alleged Akhand.
