Red Cross has all along adapted new challenges and opportunities says Odisha Governor

Bhubaneswar: Red Cross is the biggest humanitarian network and platform that brings people together to aid the vulnerable, said Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir. Speaking in the valedictory function of the State Level Youth Red Cross study-cum-training camp for Girl volunteers at Ramadevi Women’s University, Governor said Red Cross organizes a variety of programmes and activities every year to nurture compassionate leaders for humanity with the necessary skills, knowledge and attitude to serve. It strives to instill the spirit of humanity and strengthen core values such as compassion, passion and professionalism in all its volunteers.
Red Cross has all along adapted new challenges and opportunities throughout its long history. It integrates character-building, leadership, essential life saving skills and blood donation knowledge, local community service and humanitarian projects in its curriculum, with the Red Cross ethos and service to humanity as a core focus Governor added.
Governor and President of Odisha Branch advised girl volunteers to reach out and inspire the people around you to contribute to a cause that you believe in.
Prof. (Dr.) Padmaja Mishra, Vice Chancellor, Rama Devi Women’s University, Dr. Gyanabrata Mohanty, Honorary Secretary, IRCS, Odisha State Branch, Major Dr. Kalpana Das, Youth Red Cross Officer, Susil Kumar Pattanaik, Core Committee Member of Youth Red Cross among others spoke on the occasion. First Lady of Odisha Alemla Jamir was present in the programme.
