Report by Kishor Dash , Bhubaneswar: With the Jeypore-Malkangiri railway line project is pending with the Union Railway Ministry , Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi today met the Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at New Delhi and urged him to expedite sanction of DPR for Jeypore-Malkangiri Railway Project at the earliest. The minister assured him to do the needful , Majhi said to OriisaDiary over phone today. The BJD Government led by the chief minister Naveen Patnaik is resolved to provide rail connectivity to the people of Malkangiri, the most backward district in the country and exploring all possibilities to get the nod of the Railway Ministry soon. Notably, while both, the Jeypore-Nabarangpur and Jeypore-Malkangiri new Railway Line Projects were announced in the 2016-17 budget following a MoU on October 10, 2016 on cost sharing basis, the railway ministry has sanctioned the 38 km long new broad gauge line between Jeypore and Nabarangpur by the Railway ministry while pending the Jeypore-Malkangiri Railway line project which has disappointed the people here.
