Productivity Council launches new chapter in Jharsuguda

Report by Orissadiary correspondent; Jharsuguda: The Orissa State Productivity Council (OSPC) has started a new chapter for Jharsuguda district.
The chapter was inaugurated by the Council president Ajit Mahapatra at Tata Refractories Ltd (TRL) at its Belpahar premises. Dhananjay Behera, GM (PR & HRD) of TRL, was unanimously elected as the first vice-president of the Chapter. He sought the cooperation of industries to make the chapter meaningful and active. The OSPC president elaborated the role of OSPC in furthering the cause of industries in Orissa through training programmes, seminars, workshops and consultancy services. It is quite appropriate to have a chapter in Jharsuguda district now as it is the most happening district in terms of industrialisation in the state, he pointed out.
In his presidential address, Dr AK Chattopadhyay highlighted the importance of such a chapter in providing a common platform to the local industries to discuss and deliberate on their common issues.
At the first seminar conducted by the new chapter the same evening, Air Liquide, a French company which has acquired the noted German company Lurgi, made a presentation on a proposal to start a Clean Gas Unit in Jharsuguda.
It will be pollution-free unit which will supply clean gas through pipelines to different industries as per their requirement, authorities of Air Liquide suggested. It further suggested that individual industries need not handle coal, oil, tar and other hazardous materials. Among others, Dr Chattopadhyay, joint MD of TRL, SK Sekhar, director (operation) in OPGC, Banaharpalli, PB Gupta, GM MCL, Lakhanpur, Sunil Agrawal and Sunil Choudhury, directors, Maa Samleswari Industries, Lapanga and representatives from Vedanta, Bhusan Steel, Action Ispat, MSP Metallics, Ind-Bharat Energy and senior executives of TRL and OPGC and office-bearers of OSPC were present on the occasion.
