PNG Minister Dharmendra Pradhan presents Oil Safety Awards

Bhubaneshwar: At the ongoing 22nd Refining and Petrochemicals Meet, being held under the aegis of the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, in the city, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Minister for Petroleum & Natural Gas and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India, presented the Oil Industry Safety Awards that recognise excellence in safety performance of the oil industry. The Hon’ble Minister said, ‘’Today there is marked improvement in safety preparedness level in this highly hazardous industry segment, however since safety is a continuous process we must not let our guard down on this front even for a moment. We must continually strive to make our oil & gas installations as world class when it comes to safety.’’

Present on the occasion were Shri KD Tripathi, Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri Sandeep Poundrik, Joint Secretary, MoP&NG, Shri Sanjiv Singh, Chairman IndianOil, and Shri Brajesh Kumar, Executive Director, CHT and CMDs of Other Oil Companies. The highest tally of awards was bagged by India’s flagship energy company Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOC). Shri Sanjiv Singh, Chairman, IndianOil, while congratulating his team members, said, ‘’It is of paramount importance in our sector to provide safe environment for all stakeholders. Our Corporation shall be executing projects worth Rs. 1,59,000 crores in the next five years. In our quest for newer goals and aspirations, the importance of safety in all our projects and operations is a top priority.’’

For the year 2015-16, several installations and locations of IndianOil bagged awards under various categories:Barauni Refinery (Refinery/Other Process Plants); Chennai-Trichy-Madurai Product Pipeline (Cross-country Pipelines); North Zone (Marketing-POL); and an individual category award for Shri Dilawar Singh (contract worker) for his contribution towards safety; while for 2016-17 its Haldia Refinery (Refineries/ Other Processing Plant), North Zone (Marketing-POL) and two IOCians Shri Arun Kumar Singh and Shri Satendra Verma for individual contribution for safety have also been awarded.

The other winners of 2015-16 are: Vedanta Ltd.-Cairn Oil & Gas for Mangla Oil & Gas Mine (Oil & Gas Assets-Onshore); ONGC Ltd. for B&S Asset-BPB Platform (Production Platforms/Rigs off-shore); BPCL’s West Zone (Marketing-LPG); Personnel associated with HPCL, Essar Ltd, and ONGC Ltd. were also recognised for their individual contribution towards safety, while the Team Award was bagged by Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd. For 2016-17 ONGC won for Rajahmundry (Oil& Gas Assets on-shore) and for its MH North Asset with Vallant Driller Rig (Production Platform/Rig off-shore); HPCL for Mundra-Delhi Pipeline (Cross-country pipelines); HPCL South Zone (Marketing LPG); and HPCL for individual contribution towards safety.
