PM Narendra Modi launches MSMEs Support And Outreach Programme; Dharmendra Pradhan attended as Chief Guest at District Level Programme held at Cuttack

Cuttack: Supporting MSMEs and reaching out to them through credit plus services today an event was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi graced the occasion as Chief Guest and launched the event through live streaming. Alongside, a campaign was launched by Prime Minister in 100 districts of the country for strengthening the eco system for MSMEs. Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Petroleum and Natural Gas and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Minister attended as Chief Guest of the occasion at District Level Programme held at Cuttack Saheed Bhawan by the Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India in collaboration with UCO Bank, Cuttack.

Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan addressing the programme said, “Cuttack city is synonymous with MSME industry and historic Bali Yatra will begin soon to remember the rich maritime history of Odisha. Utkal Gourab Madhusudan Das had a vision of New Odisha with an objective to provide employment to the youths of the State by recognising the traditional industry into an organised industry.

 

The minister urged budding entrepreneurs and the MSMEs to leverage their support to the ecosystem created in the country under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Jee to enhance productivity of the MSMEs in various sectors.

 

Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan also felicitated six successful entrepreneurs of Cuttack district who have established their business successfully in the field of printing units, Gems and Jewellery business, foot wear, construction, beauty parlour and garment designing being benefitted through various government run schemes by MSME and Prime Minister MUDRA Yojna. 10 beneficiaries were also provided financial assistance under UCO Trader and MUDRA schemes to start their business and become self-reliant.

Various Ministries of Government of India would be associated with the event and the campaign. The campaign would be operational on the lines of Gram Swaraj Abhiyan (GSA)/Aspirational Districts and accordingly Prabhari Officers have been appointed vide DoPT orders dated 26th October 2018 for each district. Prabhari Officers would be supported by officers of concerned departments as outlined in this background material.

The campaign is aimed at reaching out to MSMEs in these 100 clusters and beyond thereby helping to nurture a robust ecosystem for such MSMEs. As the challenges faced by MSMEs cannot be addressed by any single Ministry/Agency of Government of India, the campaign recognises the multi-dimensional aspects of the interventions required in this regard. Department of Financial Services (DFS) shall be anchoring the programme.

The Ministries/Agencies of Government of India associated with the campaign are Ministries of MSME, Commerce, Labour & Employment, Chemicals & Fertilizers, Rural Development, Heavy Industries & Public Enterprises, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Food Processing Industries, Pharmaceuticals and Textiles.

The campaign in these 100 districts is therefore of paramount importance. Progress in respect of the campaign shall be monitored through a dashboard created for the purpose which reflects actions to be taken by different stakeholders.

Some of the Sectoral Ministry initiatives that will be extended as a part of this program are: MSME Samadhaan, MSME Sambandh, Trade Receivables Discounting System (TReDS), Micro & Small Enterprises – Cluster Development Program (MSE-CDP), Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY), Rural Self Employment Training Institutes (RSETIs), Government e-Marketplace (GeM), Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana – “MUDRA – Funding the Unfunded -, Stand Up India Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY), Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY), GSTN, Relief to MSMEs in NPA classification.

This district level programme held at Cuttack was attended by many successful entrepreneurs, youths and they took part in this visionary programme launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. Among others, Shri Charan Singh, ED, UCO Bank, Shri Jatindra Nath Swain, IAS, MD, SECI, Shri S G Dewalwar, IRS, Commissioner, GST & Central Excise, Shri Chanchal Majumdar, GM, UCO Bank, Dr. S. K. Sahoo, Director, MSME, Cuttack, Shri Satyajit Mohanty, Odisha State Head, FICCI, Shri Brahmananda Maharana, President, USRSS (Filigree Association) were present on this occasion.
