Patha Utsav Spreaded No tobacco Message; Odisha Health Minister among the list of Volunteers


Bhubaneswar: Patha Utsav today observed in collaboration with Health and Family Welfare Department for creating awareness on various health issues. On the occasion of World Cancer Survivors Day the State Institute of Health and Family Welfare had organised a number of activities. The National Cancer Survivors Day is observed on the first Sunday in June globally. The day is meant to “demonstrate that life after a cancer diagnosis can be a reality”.
Lady Pala Artists through their play gave message on how tobacco affects your life by inviting cancers. State Health and Family Welfare Minister Pratap Dev was one among the list of volunteers who was seen showing placards on anti tobacco theme. While a group of children were creating awareness against smoking, Minister Pratap Dev joined with them and listened the impressive speech of tiny tots carefully.
Besides the awareness the SIH & FW had set up special kiosks for checking of blood pressure, blood sugar, chest related diseases and other tests. A special Yoga camp also organised to spread the benefits of yoga for a healthier life. A team of doctors from various field today joined at the dedicated health check up camps.
The Health and Family Welfare Department also organised a number of competition including drawing and painting and quiz related to no tobacco theme. The successful candidates were felicitated at the main stage.
Artist created wonderful art on the canvas with the theme of how cigarette smoking spoiling life slowly and how addicted people are chained with their habit. Rangoli artist created colourful Rangoli art with messages on anti tobacco which was a centre of attraction.
The National Urban Health Mission with its volunteers had organised an awareness rally with slogans on health related issues. Social organisations like PECUC, Wish foundation, Helpmate, People for Seva and Bakul engaged their volunteers for no tobacco campaigning.
Apart from the awareness drives at the two end of the stretch mind blowing music show made the audience craze. Rosalin Sahu, one of the most popular singer gave a very rocking performance starting the from the bollywood song Ye Saraa Jamana…hasino ka diwana..
BMC Mayor, BDA Additional Commissioner, Officials of SIH &F and BMC Officials coordinated the event.
