Paralakhemundi: As an innovation to build creative livelihood among tribals OUAT with joint collaboration of Agriculture department promotion of Minor Millets like Raggi & Suan taken in Gobindpur of Mohana block as pilot basis. Around 100 farmers empowered on innovative techniques of raggi cultivation. For an acre 2 kgs of raggi seeds sown through sowing machine in a lined manner & for procurement implement through procurement machine to be used to procure faster on practical field class. They can procure 1 quintal per acre. As Resource Persons Agro EngineersSangram Keshari Swain & Bhagaban Swain with Asst. Agriculture Officer Umesh Murmu shared various techniques with process of cultivation.Being small & marginal farmers they can access better livelihood with support of nutritional food for their families. Fortunately now in a panchayat of Mohana block all anganwadi centres are supplied raggi processed food to infants & maternity mothers. Supporting NGOs like SACAL, CCD, SWWS, Surakhya are closely monitoring the progress in 5 tribal blocks like Mohana, RUdayagiri, Rayagada, Nuagada & Gumma. This is a great innovation to build food security among tribals.
