Puri
Temple
The holy city of Puri is at a distance of 60 km from
Bhubaneswar, the capital city of Orissa. It is one
of the four holiest points of pilgrimage for Hindus.Lord
Jagannath Temple is ascribed to Anantvarma Chodganga
Dev who built it during 1078-1147AD.It is built on
elevated ground about twenty feet above the ground
level shows an magnificent sight and can be seen from
a great distance. The Temple consists of four main
part viz., the Viman or the great temple, Jagmohan
or the hall of audience, Natamandapa the Dancing Hall
and Bhogmandap or the refractory. The Images of Lord
Balabhadra, Subhadra & Jagganath are installed
in the inner part of the temple called as Ratnavedi
or the jeweled platform.
The temple has four gates at four directions of the
temple called as Simhadara (Lions Gate), Ashwa dwara
(horse gate), Vyaghara dwara (tigers gate) & Hasti
dwara (elephants gate), they represent dharma, mana,
variagya & Aishwarya.The main entrance which is
called as Simdhara is faced to Arun Stambha.
Konark
Temple
The magnificent and incredible Sun Temple at Konark
is the culmination of Orissan temple architecture,
and one of the most awesome monuments of religious
architecture in the world. Konark also known as Arka-Tritha
is known for its Temple of lord Surya, the Sun god.
It is situated on the seashore, 33km north of Puri
and 65 km from Bhubaneswar. It was Constructed of
black stone in the beginning of the 13th century,
and it is considered one of the vivid architectural
showpieces of Hindu India. Despite the fact that the
Black Pagoda is in ruins, the remaining porch area
and the structures of this temple complex remain as
a crown jewel of Orissa artwork.
