Orion Cultural Celebration Begins At Sri Sri University

Cuttack: Orion event kicked off with a mega Inaugural Ceremony on 18th January’2019 at the premises of Sri Sri University. The honoured guests who graced the event were Shri Arindam Ray, eminent actor and media producer of the Odia Film industry, Ms. Prakruti Mishra, award-winning Odia Film and Hindi Television actress, Shri Subhash Mahajan, Executive President, General Motors, Shri Girin Govind, Director of Sri Sri School of Yoga, Bangalore, Mr. Narendra Lamba, Director of Operations, Commodore Ghanshyam Ojha, Executive Registrar, and Captain Chandra Shekhar Panda, Director of Student Affairs, Sri Sri University.
The ceremony portrayed Orion’s motto of “Best of east and Best of West” with precision. The event started off with Guru Pooja which was then followed by the soothing Vedic Chants by the Veda Boys. There was also an inclusion of the Odisha culture in the inaugural ceremony as students of Bachelors of Performing Arts, Sri Sri University mesmerized the audience by their elegant Odissi Dance performance.
After which the various departments of Orion who had worked hard to put up this show together were honoured through a flag bearing ceremony. Then Captain Chandra Shekhar Panda, Director of Student Affairs, Sri Sri University, introduced the eminent guests and welcomed the dignitaries, faculties, participants and students with a welcoming speech. Then Shri Narendra Lamba, Director Operations, Sri Sri University addressed the audience and threw light on how important it is to be humble and down to earth to succeed in life. Then Shri Girin Govind, Director of Sri Sri School of Yoga, brought a wave of energy into the environment with his enthusiastic and motivating words. Shri Shubhas Mahajan said “We are all here to learn and learning is a never-ending process” and asked the students to participate whole-heartedly in events like Orion and grow on an overall basis. Shri Arindam Roy shared his life experiences and explained how peace comes from within and happiness comes when one is satisfied with what he/she has. He even congratulated students on having organised such a meticulous and happening event, Orion. Ms. Prakruti Mishra wished luck to the students of Sri Sri University for a successful implementation of Orion 2019. She also gave a life tip to the students which was, “never stop dreaming big”. Commodore Ghanshyam Ojha, Executive Registrar, Sri Sri University, offered a vote of thanks to the guests, speakers, media persons, academic and non-academic staff of the university and wished good luck to the Orion team for the forthcoming events.
Sri Sri University also organized its flagship Entrepreneurship event named, Mystic Minds, where Hon’ble Minister Shri Prafulla Samal addressed the budding entrepreneurs of Odisha and wished them luck for the event.
On the 18th Orion’s main stage events Spandan (The Dance Competition) and Reverb (The Band Competition) also took place where participants were from different educational institutions across the state.
