Odisha Tourism signed MoU with Yatra TG Stay Ltd; Growth of Homestays emphasised

Bhubaneswar: Department of Tourism, Govt of Odisha signed MoU with Yatra.com for the joint promotion of homestays in state today afternoon. The MoU was signed by Dr Nitin B. Jawale, Director, Tourism Department and Mr. Manish K. Bansal, GM, Homestay, Yatra.com, in presence of Shri R. Balakrishnan, Development Commissioner and Mrs Arti Ahuja, Principal Secretary, Tourism Department.

With intent of establishing itself as the largest Homestays aggregator, Yatra.com will list properties in Odisha on its website and encourage the growth of Homestays in the state. Development Commissioner Mr. Balakrishnan expressed his desire that the concept of Homestay which is popular in States like Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Himachal Pradesh etc. shall create new scope for rural and urban households of Odisha. Mrs. Arti Ahuja wishes that people of Odisha will show interest in the concept of homestays and let people from other parts on India and world to come and experience local authentic culture of Odisha.

 

Homestays will help people of Odisha to earn livelihood through hospitality sector by becoming part of the tourism industry. The ladies & unemployed youth in other parts of India have been benefited by being part of Homestays business and develop the area economically. Mr. U. K. Pati, Deputy Director, Tourism, Sri Rishikesh Ranjan, Head, TG Stays,Sri P. K. Chand, Finance Officer, OTDC and Sri Ratikanta Patnaik, Tourist Officer were also present.   –
