Odisha Tourism Minister inaugurates Konark Festival 2017

Konark: Konark Festival 2017 witness a colourful commencement in the Open-Air  stage with the architectural marvel, The Sun Temple at the backdrop. Organized by the Department of Tourism in association with OTDC and Odisha Tourism Development Corporation and Odisha Sangeet Natak Academy.

The festival was formally declared open by Minister, Tourism and Culture Ashok Chandra Panda in the presence of M.L.As Kakatpur, Nimapada, Brahamagiri and Polasara, Zillaparishad President, Jyotirmaya Dalai, Principal Secretary Tourism Dr. Mona Sharma, Commissioner-cum-Secretary Culture Manoranjan Panigarhi, Director Tourism Dr. Nitin Bhanudas Jawale, Collector Puri Dr. Arbinda Agrawal and S.P. Puri, Dr. Sarthak Sarangi. Guru Niranjan Rout and the group of Nupur Dance Academy presented Dance Drama Manmath Sambhav on the death of Tarakasura by Kumar Kartikeya who was born out of the union of lord Shiva and Parvati. However Madana was published for arousing Lord Shiva from meditation and later was forgiven on the prayer of all Gods.

Odissi dance drama was followed by the depiction of the entire Ramayan in six verses by the artistes of The Temple of Fine Arts in Bharatnatyam style hailing from Malaysia. Basing on the composition of Maharaja Swati Tirunal the item was choreographed by Shankar Kandasamy. Dr.Sadhana Srivastav and Dr. Mrutyunjaya Rath compered the evening’s programme with the support of OSNA Secretary Pradip Kumar Mishra, C.E.O. GKCMORC Dr. Sangita Gosian, Deputy Director, Tourism Utpal Pati, Ratikant Pattanaik and other officers of Tourism and OSNA
