Odisha: Talcher to produce record 100 MT during current FY’19 : Mr RR Mishra, CMD, MCL

Talcher: Setting a new record, Talcher coalfields in Angul district of Odisha will contribute a record 100 million tonne coal to the targeted 162.5 million tonne production of dry fuel by the leading Coal India subsidiary Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) during the current financial year 2018-19.
“Talcher will set a new record this year by producing 100 million tonne”, said Mr Rajiv Ranjan Mishra, Chairman-cum-Managing Director, after a meeting with Area General Managers and Project Officers.
The Talcher coalfields, he said, will be growing at a rate of 50 million tonne in every five years’ time. “This year it will be a record 100 million tonne and after five years the production will 150 million tonne, as the Talcher coalfields is poised to add to its total production 50 million tonne coal every five year”.
The strategy is well in place and all assistance is being extended to our area teams to achieve the target, he added.
The CMD was accompanied by Mr JP Singh, Director (Technical/Operations), Mr LN Mishra, Director (Personnel), Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical/Projects & Planning) and Mr RK Sinha, IAS, Joint Secretary (Independent Director) during his visits to the mines.
The Talcher coalfields had contributed over 81 million tonne to the total 143 million tonne coal produced by the company during the previous financial year 2017-18.
This year, MCL has a target to produce 162.5 million tonne coal, of which it has plans to produce 100 million tonne from Talcher alone.
The CMD visited all the production areas in Talcher coalfields and motivated officers and staff working in the mines during this two-day official visit ending today.
He also interacted with locals, who assured him all cooperation to the company.
Mr Mishra also addressed the young officers deployed at different areas in Talcher coalfields and encouraged them to bring in new ideas to strengthen the working systems and make them more transparent and productive.
Creating a new chapter in the history of company, Mr Mishra chaired his first meeting of the MCL’s Board of Directors at an area office in Talcher coalfields.
