Odisha: Super Specialty Health services begins in Keonjhar Govt Hospital

Report by Malaya Mohapatra; Keonjhar: Super specialty services in Cardiology, Nephrology, Neurology, Oncology was inaugurated in the centenary building of Keonjhar district head quarters hospital by Badri Narayan Patra, minister, school and mass education, Odisha in presence of local MLAs and ZP president. Consultant Doctors from Bhubaneswar will attend OPD services in Cadiology every Thursday while Cancer specialist will be present on Sundays, Neurology specialist will be available every second and Fourth Tuesday and Kidney specialist will attend the OPD on 3rd and 4th Saturday of every month. The tests required for the patients can be done in the district hospital and those unavailable will be done in local pvt diagnostic centres empanelled by the Health dept. Free treatment will be provided to poor people and all expenses shall be incurred from the District Mineral Fund, N Thirumalla Naik, Collector announced in the inaugural meeting. Provision to add more infrastructure to Dist Head Quarters Hospital including Diagnostic equipments for specialized treatment, an advanced Operation Theatre, Engangement of doctors in mining affected areas has been approved to be spent from the district mineral Fund he added. Already about 300 crores has been sanctioned for the Govt medical college and infrastructure work is going on full swing near Kabitra in Keonjhar town. With up gradation of District hospital and functioning of Bijupattnaik Govt Medical college in Keonjhar, this town will be soon a hub for medical treatment for Keonjhar and its neighboring districts, minister BN Patra said. Soon mechanized laundry services, mobile pathology services and nutrition services for leper patients going to be introduced in the dist and sub divisional hospitals, Kabindra Sahoo , CDMO spoke. Apart from medical services, BN Patra stressed on provision of health literacy program on prevention of deceases throughout the district.
