Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: One day sensitization programme for media personnel on Juvenile Justice [Care and Protection] Act 2015 [JJ Act] organized by district Child Protection Unit [DCPU] was held in Circuit House here on Wednesday. Additional District Magistrate Saran Kumar Jena inaugurated the programme in presence of district child welfare committee chairperson Dr Raghunath Jena, Deputy Superintendent Police JJ Act Bamadev Singh, district child protection officer Kahnu Charan Rout, ADPRO Kamini Patnaik and Dr Pramod Kumar Acharya a faculty from National Law University as resource person including media persons from print and electronic Medias.
Resource person Dr Acharya held an elaborate discussion on JJ Act 2015 and role of media dealing with children in conflict with law. He also informed at the programme that media has preventive and protective role implementing the JJ Act , from rescue of child to its rehabilitation under JJ Act a sensitive matter, so he requested scribes to be cautious disclosing the victim identity in public besides they are freed to publish name and identity of the victim as and when it needs for social interest, he informed
The pre-launch session of the programme was held open house discussion between resource person and media representatives, the media quires were rightly replied by the attending guests and DCPU officials, later legal cum probation officer Jagannath Mishra proposed vte of thanks. [Ends]
