Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) put on soft-launch for making the users familiar with it

Bhubaneswar: In another step towards application of technology in governance, the upgraded open source based version of Odisha Secretariat Workflow Automation System (OSWAS) has been put on soft-launch for making the users familiar with it. The system was viewed in the High Level Meeting held under Chairmanship of Chief Secretary Sri Aditya Prasad Padhi in Secretariat conference hall today wherein Principal Secretary General Administration Sri Ashok Kumar Meena outlined its technical, safety and security aspects for discussion. Reviewing various facilities and applications in the new version, Chief Secretary Sri Padhi directed all departments to use the system and put forth necessary feedback for further customization of the software.
It was decided to put it under soft-launch up to 14th August, 2018 so that the users get adequate time to familiarize themselves with the new system. Chief Secretary Sri Padhi further directed IT department to organize intensive training sessions for all users in phases taking not more than 25 officers in one batch. It was targeted to make the new system Go-Live in the month of September, 2018 after necessary customization.
Presenting the upgraded system, Special Secretary IT Sri Rudra Narayan Pallai appraised that the system would have in-built Odia plugin for noting and drafting. It is mobile and cloud ready with web responsive design. The system would have robust disaster recovery link with OCAC, State Data Center and National Data Center. It would have features like 24×7 secure accesses, digital signature, online publishing of notices & circulars, SMS & email notification and real time executive dash board.
The new system would have principal applications like correspondence management, file management, file processing, record room, knowledge bank, internal messaging, dash board, notice board, MIS reports, audit management and advanced search engine. The common applications like Assembly questions, RTI, online telephone directory, vehicle management, tours management, leave management would also be available in it. Chief Secretary Sri Padhi directed to make its ‘search engine’ more user friendly and build ‘court case management system’ in it.

Venugopal, Principal Secretary General Administration Sri Ashok Kumar Meena, Principal Secretary Water Resources Sri Pradeep Kumar Jena, Principal Secretary Rural Development Dr Mona Sharma, Director IIIT Dr Gopal Nayak along with senior officers from concerned departments participated in the deliberations.
