Bhubaneswar: Ruling BJD would hold Jansampark Padayatra from the Gandhi Jayanti on October 2 to the Loknayak Jayaprakash Jayanti on October 11 this year. It was decided at an organisational review meeting of the party’s district observers held here on Monday under the chairmansip of Party president and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik .
Party president Naveen Patnaik advised the observers to complete the organizational process for the ‘Ama Gaon Ama Bikash’ and the ‘Ama Sahar Ama Unnati’ programmes and hold the Jansampark Padyatra in every zone in rural areas and every ward in urban areas. Elected people’s representatives would lead the padayatra in their respective areas.
Among others, party vice-president Debi Prasad Mishra, State general secretary Debashis Samantaray and many Ministers and MLAs attended the meeting.
In another development, s many as 920 SC-category workers of the BJP, BSP and the Congress joined the BJD under leadership of the BJD Dalit Cell convenor and State Planning Board Vice-Chairman Bishnu Charan Das. They were from various parts of the State like Koraput, Rayagada, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Khordha districts.
