Odisha ruling BJD alleged BJP to deposit money in 35000 Bijepur voters’ account

Bhubaneswar: The BJD on Monday alleged before the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) that the BJP has collected bank accounts of over 35,000 voters of the Bijepur Assembly constituency and promised to deposit money in those accounts if the concerned people decide to vote for the BJP candidate just before voting.

The party also mentioned that it has got information from a reliable source that the Central PSUs like the IOCL and the HPCL would deposit money from their CSR funds.

Besides, the ruling party has also alleged that the BJP has not submitted daily by-poll expenditures before the CEO yet.

Further, BJP workers are drawing ‘Lotus’ in Mehendi on women’s hands and promising to provide monetary award to them if they campaign for the party candidate, alleged the BJD.

Mayor K Shanti submitted the memorandum and urged the CEO to stop all these activities and take action against the BJP. In a memorandum submitted to the chief electoral officer (CEO), general secretary Pradeep Kumar Panigrahi alleged that the BJP is not submitting the daily election expenditure.

Besides, the party’s election expenditure is also not being assessed by the expenditure observer or any authorised officer.

The memorandum also alleged that the BJP workers are putting mehendi of lotus symbol (the party’s symbol) on the palms of the women voters of the constituency and alluring them to show their palms to other electorates for rewards.

Alleging that such action of BJP workers is violation of the model code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI), the BJD requested the CEO to verify these facts and take necessary action.
