Odisha: Revenue clerks strike on the 17th day in Keonjhar

Works in Tehsil, Sub Registrar, Collectorate remains paralysed

Report by Malaya Mohapatra; Keonjhar: The normal work in different Tehsil, Sub Registrar Office, District Collectorate and Sub Collector’s offices in Keonjhar District has seized as the non gazetted officials, clerks under the banner of Kendujhar District Rajaswa Amala Sangha in on a strike since 17 days. Local public visiting these offices for different certificates, land matters and other important revenue work are facing lot of inconvenience due to this strike. The association has demanded for fixing of minimum qualification for clerical job to be Graduate, fixation of salary of Junior clerks from Rs5200 to 9300 (as per 2008 pay fixation), provide grade pay from Rs1900 to 4200, Create a Special Grade for these clerks, implementation of 7th pay commission,and filling up of vacant posts in the offices. The revenue clerks have staged demonstration infront of their respective offices around the district. The State Association has called the strike all over the state but no solution has been soughed out from the Government. Local Minister BN Patra, MP and leaders of different parties have only met the agitators expressing their concern for the demonstrators.
