Odisha a repository of one of the world’s finest cultural heritages says Governor Dr. S.C. Jamir

Bhubaneswr: Culture takes diverse forms across time and space. This diversity is embodied in the uniqueness and plurality of the identities of the societies. India is a country with diversified cultures, arts and traditions. Odisha has been a repository of one of the world’s finest cultural heritages.

The State has a rich artistic heritage and has produced some of the finest examples of Indian art and architecture, said Governor and Chancellor Dr. S.C. Jamir. Speaking at the 19th Foundation Day of Utkal University of Culture at Rabindra Mandap, Bhubaneswar Governor & Chancellor said the richness of our culture is the heritage of humanity and should be preserved, promoted, propagated and protected.

For the benefit of present and future generations, it is for the University to do the best by introducing new programmes while monitoring the existing curricula to make it more appealing for students and both theory and practice must be given due emphasis. Progress of the University is encouraging but we have much more to do to achieve our ambitious goal. In the future journey it is important to maintain far-reaching visions that are understood and shared with stakeholders more widely. You must explain what difference your research makes to the world. You must be clear and focused about what you are doing, where you excel and what the challenges are, Governor advised. During these 19 years Utkal University of Culture has come a long way consolidating its identity and position as a unique university, dedicated to foster our composite culture through qualitative expansion of academic studies, research and extension. It is the mission and vision of the University that draws on last 19 years of progress, Governor added.Governor urged upon all the stakeholders of the University to think seriously on how to bring the world to the University and University to the world. Prof. Kamal Kant Mishra, Vice-Chancellor, Manoranjan Panigrahi, Secretary, Culture, Dr. Suman Das, Registrar, Prof. Jagannath Kuanr, Chairman, PG Council others spoke on the occasion. Governor gave away prizes to successful students in various competitions and released University news letter ‘SANSKRUT’ and literary magazine ‘RUPAYANA’.
