Odisha: Public consultation meeting held on proposed NH-55 construction in Jagatsinghpur

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur : A public consultation meeting was held in Sadbhabana Sabha Gruha here on Tuesday with regard to proposed NH-55 building and selection of bypasses to be spread across Jagatsinghpur and Cuttack districts. District collector Yamini Sarangi chaired the meeting accompanied by state planning board vice chairman Bishnu Das, MLAs Prashanta Muduli, Chiranjeeb Biswal, MPs Kulamani Samal, Ranjeeb Biswal, municipality chairman Biplaba Choudhury and Zilla Parishad president including senior engineers from roads and Building department as well as Engineers and architects, designers from National Highway Authority.
The meeting was briefed by consultancy company managing director Rakesh Kumar Choudhury, who explained the details about the proposed NH 55 construction and selection 6 bypasses. According to Mr Choudhury the proposed road would be started from OMP Square in Cuttack will spread Kandarpur, Jagatsinghpur, Erasama and will end at Nuagaon covering 94 KM in both Cuttack and Jagatsinghpur districts. As many as 15 km will cover under Cuttack district and 78.800 km will come under Jagatsinghpur district. 113 acre government land and 843 Acre private land would be put on acquisition for the NH 55 building so as to 9 bridges would be constructed in several locations, Choudhury revealed.
Moreover the meeting was discussed the proposed bypasses covering about 40.230km identified as Daleighai 4.8 km, Jagatsinghpur 7.850 km, Balikuda, Borikina, Ebrisingha 18.530km, Erasama, Zapa 4.650 km, Chatua 2.600 km and Balitutha 1.800km.
The meeting was discussed topics relating to land acquisition, compensation, traffic regulation, water discharge system and establishment of toll gates proposed NH 55 building. The NH authority replied that the compensation and rehabilitation to land losers would be provided according to state and union government’s land acquisition and rehabilitation Acts and rules and assured the land givers would be suitable compensated, informed Executive engineer N H Firozuddin.
The meeting was attended by revenue officials, block development officers, senior district administration officials, NH designers Chandan Kummar Dey, Rabinarayan Achary, Ravinarayan Sahoo and answered several quires raised at the meeting later ADM Saran Kumar Jena proposed vote of thanks.
