Odisha: MCL felicitates 97 coal miners on Miners Day-2017

Sambalpur: Mahanadi Coalfields Limited celebrated Miners Day 2017 with 87 coal miners, including four women, being felicitated for excellent performance during 2016-17.
Mr A K Jha, chairman and managing director, MCL was the chief guest at the Miners Day & Award for Excellence Ceremony-2017 hosted by MCL Basundhara Area in Sundergarh district last night.
Mr Jha, congratulated all on the occasion of Miners Day, and said ‘’Coal Industry has made enormous contribution in the development of our country.’’
Referring to the sacrifices made by coal miners, the CMD said ‘’it is actually the sweat of coal miners that lights up households and runs the wheels of economy.’’
Emphasising on welfare employees, Mr Jha said company had taken several measures to reduce the hardships of coal workers, especially of unorganised sector working through contactors.
‘’I am pleased to inform you that MCL has 100 percent implemented the HPC (high power committee) wages for coal workers in the company and salaries to all the employees are being disbursed electronically to their account, ’’ Mr Jha said.
Awards of Excellence were given away to 97 coal miners, including 22 Executives and four ladies, for their distinguished performance during the financial year ended March 31, 2017.
Mr J P Singh, Director (Technical/Operations), Mr K K Parida, Dircetor (Finance), Mr L N Mishra, Director (Personnel), Mr OP Singh, Director (Technical/P&P), representatives of trade Mr K C Patel, president, OCMS (INTUC), Mr S  P Behera, General Secretary, OCMLF (HMS), Mr Anit Chakaraborty, General Secretary, BCMWU (AITUC), Mr Surendra Patel, General Secretary, BCMS (BMS), Mr SC Mallick, General Secretary, CISTEA, Mr Sahab Singh, president CMOAI and Mr Neeraj Kalla, General Manager, Basundhara Area were prominent on the dais with large number of coal miners, representatives of various unions, General Managers , senior officers and families participated in the celebrations.
School children of MCL DAV Basundhara and MCL DAV Ib Valley presented cultural programme on this occasion.
The programme was conducted by Ms Krishna Dey and vote of thanks was proposed by Mr D P Pattanaik, Deputy General Manager (P-MP&IR/NEE), MCL.
