Odisha: Making Berhampur Shrestha (the best city) campaign begun

Berhampur : Berhampur Children’s Federation in association with Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC) initiated a campaign to make Berhampur Shrestha (the best city). The basic purpose of this initiative is to make the city clean, hygiene, green and beautiful and make holistic development of the city. The new commissioner of BeMC Shri. Nikhil Pavan Kalyan commenced the campaign near Khallikote University, Berhampur.
Children started contributing their time, effort and talent by painting on the wall to make Berhampur a beautiful city. “We need our city should look beautiful and child friendly” Sruti Kumari, Child Leader Berhampur Children Federation shared this and also their action plan for the next 15 days to paint their artistic ideas and views on different aspects of children and social issues.
This is not the only effort we have planned, this will continue with other efforts to make slums and the city clean and hygiene. Children planned to start city wide campaign on sanitation, use of dust bin and to make the city open defecation free.
Thirty child leaders from Dimira Bauri Street, Lanjipalli Gaudabandha Street, Telugu Street, and Old Berhampur joined in this campaign. More than 300 children will participate in the next 15 days.
Noted here that Youth for Social Development has working with more than 4000 children in 40 slums in Berhampur city to make their living condition safe and healthy and for a better future of children and protect their rights.
