Odisha: JSPL holds blood donation camp; As many as 113 units of blood were collected

 

Barbil: In a bid to promote awareness among employees on the importance of donating blood, Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) organised a voluntary blood donation camp in the pellet plant premises here on Thursday.

As many as 113 units of blood were collected during the day-long event, organised jointly by District Blood Bank, Keonjhar and Indian Red Cross Society.

Unit Head of JSPL Barbil, Shri G Suresha inaugurated the camp. Inaugurating the camp he said, “I appreciate the huge participation of our employees and workers in this camp. I am sure, blood units collected from this camp will save many lives.”

Shri Suresha lauded initiative of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) department and thanked its officials for organising a successful camp.

JSPL’s Dr Santosh Sahu, Dr Ajit Jena and, Dr Prafulla Chandra Mohanta from Basudevpur community health centre (CHC) conducted the camp along with other officials of health department. Dr Sahu spoke on the facts and myths of blood donation concept. He also provided the blood groups related information to the donors and called upon them to donate blood at every possible opportunity, to save precious lives during emergencies.

Among others EVP and Head (Commercial) S.K. Agrawal, VP (Mechanical Maintenance & Projects) Shri V.C.S. Rao, AVP and Head (Finance) Shri Manas Dash and, AVP and Head (HR & ES) Shri B.B. Pradhan were present on the occasion.
The donors were provided with refreshments and awarded appreciation certificates.
