Odisha:  Jajpur Collector,SP cycled 17 kilometers to   listen grievances of the villagers 

Report by Akshya Rout; Jajpur :  District collector  Ranjan Kumar Das and Superintendent of Police  Charana Singh Meena of Jajpur   have cycled 17 kilometers from Jajpur town to Rasulpur block  on Monday to gather firsthand information  about the   information on the implementation of various government programmes and   schemes.

Many  villagers on the way urged before the officials about their grievances at  Barua , Haripur, Kuakhia ,Rasulpur  and other  areas and  the officials assured them to sort out their problems.  Many locals alleged about the rampant corruption in rural development works .

Some  persons also  urged the officials n the way  to provide them houses  and the officials assured them to  grant money to build houses under the government schemes.

Many people were surprised to  watch the officials on the cycles. ” Last month, I had gone to meet the collector in his office at Jajpur. But I could not meet him . However , I on Monday urged him to provide me old age pension at Haripur and the officer directed the BDO in front of me to grant the pension within a month. I hope that the BDO will give me pension soon.   Other officials also cycled with the collector  and SP.
