Odisha Govt’s excise revenue increased by about 24 times in 18 years

Bhubaneswar: The State’s excise revenue has increased by about 24 times in 18 years over the year 2000-2001 and the Government has targeted to collect four per cent more this year.

While Rs 135.35 crore had been collected as excise revenue in 2000-01, the amount rose to approximately Rs 3221.03 in 2017-18, and the State Government has targeted to collect Rs 3,800 crore in 2018-19.

This was revealed from the information supplied by Excise Minister Shashi Bhushan Behera in the State Assembly in response to a question of BJP MLA Dilip Ray.

According the data, the State had collected Rs 389.20 crore, Rs 1094.34 crore and Rs 2786.23 crore in 2005-06, 2010-11 and 2016-17, respectively.
