Odisha Govt decided to make ‘Olly’ permanent mascot for all sports events in the State

Bubaneswar: Odisha Government has decided to make ‘Olly’ the permanent mascot for all sports events, both national and international championships, to be held in the State, informed Sports and Youth Services Secretary Vishal Dev here.

So, Olly will be the official mascot of the upcoming World Hockey League finals and Hockey World Cup scheduled to be held in Bhubaneswar from December 1 to 10 this year and November 24 to December 16, 2018, respectively.

Odisha successfully hosted the Asian Athletics Championships 2017 at the Kalinga Stadium unveiling Olly as the mascot for the games.

Olly represents the endangered Olive Ridley sea turtles which arrive in large numbers at the Odisha coast every year for nesting and laying eggs.
