Odisha Govt approved DPR for widening of 4,400-km roads under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana-II in the State

Bhubaneswar: The State Government on Thursday approved a detailed project report (DPR) for widening of 4,400-km roads under the Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana-II in the State.

The DPR was approved at a meeting held under chairmanship of Chief Secretary AP Padhi at the Secretariat here. Padhi directed the Rural Development department to prepare detail work-schedule for completion of 2,000-km PMGSY road per month in the current working season. He directed the engineers o strictly implement the norms regarding 5-year maintenance of PMGSY roads after their completions. He also asked the engineers to keep strict vigil over the quality of construction and maintenance regularly.

Rural Development Secretary Dr Mona Sharma said the Union Government and the State Government would provide funds at the ratio of 60:40 for the projects. A total of 10,447-km road would be upgraded under the PMGSY-2 by December-end, 2020, she informed. It was revealed that a total of 48,452 km roads and 241 bridges have been constructed under the PMGSY-1 in the State so far.

As a result, 14,337 villages have been connected with roads. More projects have been undertaken to connect 2,154 villages with roads. A total of Rs 20,892 crore has been spent. Chief Engineer Bijay Narayan Mishra was present, among others.
