Odisha Govt announces compensation for people affected in Bhadrak violence

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Government announces special compensation package for people affected in Bhadrak violence . GA depts approves maximum of Rs 2 lakh, minimum of Rs 15,000 as part of the special package for people affected during Bhadrak unrest. Collector asked to provide compensation to 443 beneficiaries identified for assistance in first phase.
It should be noted that properties to the tune of Rs 9 crore including 440 business establishments , 10 pucca houses and 180 makeshift shops were damaged during the communal violence that hit Bhadrak town. This was mentioned district Collector Gyana Ranjan Das in the damage assessment report which has been submitted to Revenue Divisional Commissioner (RDC), Central, AB Ota .
According to reports, the damage was caused to three different religious institutions during the unrest. Notably, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik, during his visit to the riot-hit town on April 12, had directed officials for assessment of the damages caused during the outrage for announcement of compensation to the affected people.
