Silicon Valley: In the inaugural session of the TiECon 2017, attended by more than 6500 TiE delegates from all over the world, Odisha got a special recognition in terms of a citation appreciating efforts of the Chief minister Naveen Patnaik in steering the Startup and Smart City initiatives and a keynote speaking slot on the main stage.
The Citation was presented by Mr Ram Reddy, President TiE Silicon Valley and was received on behalf of Govt of Odisha by Shri LN Gupta, Principal Secretary, MSME and Shri AKK Meena, Commissioner cum secretary, E&IT. The citation reads as : “ TiE Silicon Valley recognizes State of Odisha under the leadership of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik for their outstanding Progress in fostering Startup Entrepreneurship and their Smart City initiatives”.
Principal Secretary Shri LN Gupta delivered a keynote address highlighting the advantages to the TiE delegates of doing business in the State of Odisha. He stated the benefits that are available to the Entrepreneurs under the Odisha Startup Initiative and Ease of Doing Business framework. He impressed upon the Entrepreneurs to set up their ventures in Odisha, which offers ample opportunities with assured availability of quality infrastructure and technical manpower. He called upon the Startups, Incubators and Venture funds to take advantage of this new opportunity and join the efforts of Govt of Odisha in making the state as the third largest hub of Startups in India.
In another Session on ‘How New Government Policies Drive Opportunities’ , Secretary, E&IT Shri AKK Meena shared the avenues opened by the new policies on Startup, GST, MSMEs and Smart City for the budding Entrepreneurs. The TiECoN- 2017 has a dedicated Stall on Odisha, where the various policy brochures and other promotional material are being made available to the visiting delegates. The Odisha Stall is witnessing a good foot fall of visitors.
