Bhubaneswar: Odisha is the 4th largest amongst the Indian States in terms of the extent of forest cover with per capital forest of 0.16 ha, which is more than double the national average. It has immense diversity of wildlife and many unique sanctuaries like the Biosphere Reserves of Simlipal, mangrooves of Bhitarkanika and the wetlands around Chilika lake. To give us a glimpse of wildlife of Odisha and its beautiful sanctuaries, we have invited Mr Siddhanta Das, IFS, who is currently Director General of Forests and Special Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Government of India. Mr Das was earlier Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (PCCF) Wildlife in Odisha. He will make a presentation on ‘Wildlife in Odisha’ and illustrate his talk with slides.
Mr Valmik Thapar, noted natural historian, conservationist, writer and wild life film maker has agreed to chair the meeting.
