Odisha: Food security cards distributed in Jagatsinghpur

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: The state government sponsored food security card was distributed to eligible beneficiary in a function held at Singarapur under Jagatsinghpur block on Monday. State health and family welfare minister Pratap Jena inaugurated the programme accompanied by MP Kulamani Samal, state planning board vice chairman Bishnu Das, Jagatsinghpur block chairperson Bijayalaxmi Behera, ZP members, Sarpanchs and PS members of Jagatsinghpur block. Speaking at the inauguration function minister Jena reiterated Odisha government’s stance giving ration card to the beneficiary ousted from central government supplied NFSA card. However minister said as many as 8953 beneficiaries have been estimated providing food security cards in Jagatsinghpur block, if somebody names have been disappeared from the present prepared beneficiary list it is open to them to move block development officer for verification and addition, minister assured. Ministers assurance was not satisfied many beneficiaries gathered at meeting for availing cards, they alleged that the beneficiary selection has been made under political consideration as consequence many eligible persons have been overthrown. Block development officer Lagnajit Rout refuted the allegation and asked people apply again those names have been unconsidered.
