Odisha Farmers stir protesting non supply of canal water, burnt CM, agriculture minister effigies

Report by Kahnu Nanda; Jagatsinghpur: Hundreds of farmers from Tainra village under Raghunathpur block were resorted stir protesting non supply of water in Machhagaon main canal’s subsidiary branch canal’s number 7 and 8, later agitated pesants were set ablaze effigies of state chief minister Naveen Patnaik and agriculture minister Damodar Rout. Report said that farmers of Tainra village were dependant of branch canal number 7 and 8 for agricultural prospects but sporadic supply of canal water have been affecting farmers, the paddy field measuring one thousand hectors adjacent to villages are going dry leading to farmers woes. The irrigation department engineers are paying no heed to farmer’s crisis at the third week of August paddy plantation yet to be begun in many paddy lands. Later agitated farmers were submitted a memorandum before district collector and executive engineer irrigation department Jagatsinghpur.
