Odisha: Eight numbers of new projects estimated around Rs.2800 cr have been sanctioned from OMBADC fund

Bhubaneswar: Eight numbers of new projects estimated around Rs.2800 cr have been sanctioned from OMBADC fund for 9 mineral bearing districts. Chief Secretary Sri Aditya Prasad Padhi gave nod to these projects while presiding over the Board of Directors Meeting of OMBADC held in secretariat conference hall today wherein Chief Executive Officer, OMBADC Smt Uma Nanduri presented financial, administrative and technical aspects for consideration.
Reviewing the progress of projects sanctioned earlier, Sri Padhi directed the concerned Collectors to complete the housing projects before 15th August. Chief Secretary further directed the State Pollution Control Board to have regular measurement and monitoring of the water and air pollution level in mining areas. The departments were also advised to take up projects for pollution containment.
The newly sanctioned projects in the meeting included skill development training to ST, SC, OBC & youths of minority community, horticulture activities, mega lift irrigation and strengthening adarsha vidyalayas in all 9 districts covered under OMBADC. Apart from these, 12 number of mega lift irrigation projects for Keonjhar districts, check dam with lift irrigation projects in 5 districts, construction of ROBs at Jharsuguda, Keonjhar and Sundargarh, construction of critical road and bridges for establish the missing link of connectivity in mining hit areas were also sanctioned in the meeting.
Replying to a media query after the meeting, CEO Smt Nanaduri said that 9 districts namely Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, Rayagada and Sundargarh districts have been brought under the ambit of OMBDAC fund. Presently, projects of around Rs.3, 517 cr are in different stages of implementation in these districts. With today’s approval the total cost of the project sanctioned for these districts comes around Rs.6317 cr.

Balakrishnan, Additional Chief Secretary Forest & Environment Sri Suresh Chnadra Mohapatra, Additional Chief Secretary Finance Sri Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Principal Secretary Steel & Mines Sri Raj Kumar Sharma, Principal Secretary Water Resources Sri Pradeep Kumar Jena, Principal Secretray Rural Development Dr Mona Sharma, PCCF Sri Sandeep Tripathy, Chief Executive Officer OMBADC Smt Uma Nanduri along with Independent Directors of the Board and senior officer members participated in the discussions.
