Odisha Crime Branch formed SIT to probe into incident of obscene comments passed on students of Rama Devi

Bhunbaneswar: Odisha Crime Branch has formed an eight member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe into the incident of obscene comments passed on pictures of some Rama Devi Women’s University students in social networking site Facebook. The team comprises five Inspectors, including two women Inspectors and other staffs to assist in the investigations. The case was transferred from the Saheed Nagar police to the Cyber Cell.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday ordered an investigation by the State Crime Branch (CB) into the incident.
Students of Rama Devi and two other city colleges called on the CM at his chambers in the State Assembly here and demanded a CB probe into the incident. He immediately summoned the Crime Branch ADG Vijaya Sharma and gave him the necessary instructions.
Notably, the Ramadevi Women’s University students had held a demonstration demanding a CB investigation into the incident as they did not have faith on the local police to trace and nab the culprits.
