Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik writes to PM Narendra Modi to make PM-KISAN scheme more inclusive

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Monday writes to PM Narendra Modi; while welcoming the PM-KISAN scheme, requests to consider inclusion of landless labourers, sharecroppers and vulnerable agricultural households under PM-KISAN.

Through the letter, Patnaik has welcomed the announcement of PM-KISAN scheme for augmenting the income of farmers by providing income support with 100 per cent funding by the Government of India.

Patnaik also brought to the notice of the Prime Minister that Odisha has approved the Package for Farmers’ Welfare — Krushak Assistance for Livelihood and Income Augmentation (KALIA) to further accelerate agricultural prosperity and reduce poverty in the state in December 2018.

“In order to make the PM-KISAN scheme more inclusive, I would strongly request you to kindly consider the inclusion of landless labourers, sharecroppers and vulnerable agricultural households under the PM-KISAN scheme,” Patnaik further wrote in the letter.
