Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik stressed capacity building, & modernization of Police

Bhubaneswar: On Odisha Divas and 82nd Odisha Police Formation Day, Chief Minister Shri Naveen Patnaik stressed capacity building, infrastructure development & modernization of the Police. Highlights from his address at the event:
• SOG, ODRAF and STF have performed well on call of duty in state; SOG to be strengthened to further tackle left wing extremism
• Need to lay emphasis on protection of women, children, senior citizens and persons belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
• To expedite investigation of cases related to women, 330 new posts created in the force. Prompt action by police crucial also serves as deterrent to violence
• Police becoming more citizen friendly will ensure more people come to police stations to lodge complaints; Senior officersshould inspect Station’s regularly to ensure smooth functioning
• Lauded Police department for success in checking criminal activities and urged upon Police for stronger initiative against human trafficking, cybercrime, organized crime, transport & tender mafia
• Retired District Judges to be appointed as Legal Advisors in all Police Districts for better handling of cases
Chief Minister called for a more sensitive approach towards people coming to police stations for registering cases, which would go on to encourage many others to lodge their grievances through the system. He congratulated all serving and retired Police officials and wished Odisha Police the best for serving the people of Odisha to the best of its capacity.
