Bhubaneswar: Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik Orders RDC Inquiry, Stoppage Of Tree Cutting In Balarampur Incident. A day after the district administration’s felled hundreds of trees for a proposed beer factory at Balarampur in Dhenkanal district, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Sunday ordered immediate stoppage of tree cutting.

As per a notification issued by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the Central Division RDC has been asked to investigate into the matter.

The irate villagers, protesting against the cutting of trees for the beer bottling plant, had a faceoff with police on Saturday.

It should be noted that the district administration took up the its bid to clear a patch of forest land near Balarampur village to enable one Gayatri Group to establish a liquor bottling factory, which has been proposed on a land area of 12.59 acres. However, locals came out to save the forest and opposed the move later in the day.
